Kayla Kowalik drafted in inaugural AUSL Draft

Kowalik drafted 28th in first ever Athletes Unlimited Softball League Draft
LUBBOCK, Texas – Assistant coach Kayla Kowalik was drafted on Wednesday night in the inaugural Athletes Unlimited Softball League draft in round seven by the Blaze. Kowalik played five seasons at Kentucky where she started 252 of the 253 games she played and left the Wildcats as their all-time leader in runs.
Kowalik, listed as a utility player, spent a majority of her time at catcher in college but also has the ability to play in the outfield. She was named to the NFCA, D1Softball, and Softball America All-America Second Team in her final season at Kentucky.
A New Braunfels, Texas native, Kowalik has experience on Team USA and played in the Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball league last season, accumulating 810 leaderboard points.
The season will begin in June of this year and feature four teams playing a 30-game season.
