Canady, Davis named to Softball America Preseason Top 100

NiJaree Canady and Mihyia Davis enter the 2025 season at No. 1 and No. 66 on Softball America's Top 100 players list
LUBBOCK, Texas – Softball America announced its 2025 Preseason Top 100 Players list on Monday. Red Raiders NiJaree Canady and Mihyia Davis were recognized as Canady came in at No. 1 followed by Davis at No. 66.
Canady, the reigning National Player of the Year, became one of just five players to ever lead the country in ERA back-to-back seasons and has a career ERA of just 0.67 while recording 555 strikeouts and has a winning record of 41-10.
Davis, the 2024 Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, is one of the fastest players in the country. She was given the NFCA Golden Shoe Award in 2023 for her 52 stolen bases. Davis's range in outfield makes her an elite glove and for her career she bats .401.
It is no secret that Texas Tech softball will be a team to watch this season as they welcomed in the No. 1 ranked transfer class in the country and the No. 2 ranked freshman class to go along with three returning starters.
Tech opens its season on February 6 in Clearwater, Florida at the NFCA Leadoff Classic.
