Red Raiders in the NFL | Regular Season Week 18, Jan. 4-5

LUBBOCK, Texas – The NFL regular season officially came to a close last weekend, concluding seasons for several former Red Raiders in the NFL but the show goes on for a few teams Red Raiders belong to after the playoff picture was finalized.
His team is moving on, but Tyler Owens' rookie season with the Commanders was cut short as he was placed on the injured reserve on Jan. 4. Washington travels to face Tampa Bay for a SNF wild card matchup. Also in the wild card round will be Broderick Washington Jr. and the Ravens hosting the Steelers on Saturday night on Amazon Prime. Lastly, Patrick Mahomes II and the Chiefs earned the No. 1 seed in the AFC, earned a bye week, and will wait for the divisional round, which limits the Red Raiders in the NFL in the playoffs to one in action during the wild card weekend.

ARIZONA CARDINALSÂ vs. San Francisco 49ers (W, 47-24)
S Dadrion Taylor-Demerson (2019-23): Taylor-Demerson capped off his rookie season with four tackles (two solo), including one tackle for a loss and a forced fumble. He accounted for 29 snaps on defense and 25 more coming on special teams. According to PFF.com, his 75.5 grade this season ranked as the second-highest rookie grade in the NFL among safeties in the 2024 draft class.
DL Broderick Washington Jr. (2016-19): Washington Jr. registered 18 snaps on the defensive line while adding three more on special teams.
OL Terence Steele (2016-19):Â Steele finished his 2025 season making all 17 starts for the Cowboys, once again, playing each snap in the season finale versus the Commanders.
DE Myles Cole (2022-23): Cole ended his rookie year playing 23 snaps in the Jaguars' week 18 game versus the Colts. He saw in action eight games this season, including each game over the final three weeks of the season. Â
QB Patrick Mahomes II (2014-16): With the No. 1 seed and first-round bye already secured heading into the week, Mahomes and a majority of Chiefs' starters did not play in the season finale.
DE Tyree Wilson (2020-22): Wilson ended his season playing in 51 percent of the defensive snaps (38), coming away with one tackle.Â
LB Jordyn Brooks (2016-19): Brooks wrapped up his stellar first season with Miami recording six tackles (three solo) and one pass deflection. His season consisted of 143 tackles (ninth in the NFL) with career-highs in tackles for loss (11), quarterback hits (six), pass deflections (six) and fumble recoveries (two). He started all 17 games for Miami this season and drew comparisons to Hall of Fame ILB Zach Thomas by the end of it.Â
LB Sam Eguavoen (2011-14): Eguavoen saw playing time on special teams recording 22 snaps.
DB Tyler Owens (2022-23): Owens suffered an ankle injury during the Commanders' week 17 contest, ultimately getting placed on injured reserve on Jan. 4, one day prior to the Commanders' season finale at Dallas. He finished his rookie season playing in 12 games and was a significant piece to the Commanders' special teams unit.
