Red Raider trio named to CBS Sports Midseason All-America team

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech's David Bailey, Lee Hunter and Jacob Rodriguez were each named to the CBS Sports Midseason All-American team this week, as Texas Tech is 6-0 and No. 7 in the AP Poll after week seven of the college football season.
The Texas Tech trio of defenders made up three of the four Big 12 selections and three of the 24 overall selections to the Midseason All-America team, as released by CBS Sports. Led by Bailey, Hunter, and Rodriguez, the Red Raiders' defense heads to Arizona State this week with a defense that ranks in the Top 10 in scoring defense (12.2), total defense (256.8), rushing defense (62.5), and third-down conversion defense (27.3).Â
The country can't help but take notice of the Red Raiders' defense, a defense that went from placing zero players on the preseason All-American team to having three on the midseason squad. Two of the three, Bailey and Hunter, were key additions from the No. 2-rated portal class, per 247Sports, while Rodriguez was a returner who was named to the All-Big 12 First Team in 2024 and entered 2025 as the Big 12 Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
