Red Raiders will make their fifth appearance on FOX this season on Saturday at Kansas State
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech will be back in the national spotlight this Saturday as kickoff between the Red Raiders and Kansas State has been set for 2:30 p.m. on FOX, the Big 12 Conference announced Sunday as part of its six-day television selections.
This will be Texas Tech's fifth appearance on FOX alone this season as the Red Raiders have been a regular in marquee matchups. The Red Raiders and Wildcats will be the lead-in to a possible Game 7 of the World Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers.
Texas Tech heads to the Little Apple with a 7-1 record and 4-1 mark in Big 12 play following a 42-0 shutout victory over Oklahoma State on Saturday. It marked the first shutout win for the Red Raiders since defeating Baylor midway through the 2005 season and their first at home since blanking Texas A&M, 12-0, in 2001.
Texas Tech will look to reverse its recent fortunes against Kansas State next weekend as the Red Raiders are riding an eight-game losing streak to the Wildcats. It is the longest winning streak by either team in the series as Kansas State is 15-9 all-time in the series after winning 12 of the last 13 contests overall.
The Red Raiders will be looking for their first win over Kansas State since late in the 2015 season when Texas Tech downed the Wildcats, 59-44, at Jones AT&T Stadium. Texas Tech has not won in Manhattan since the 2008 season when the Red Raiders downed K-State, 58-28. Kansas State has won six-consecutive games at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
Texas Tech will enter the matchup likely as a top-15 team after ranking as high as No. 14 last week in the Associated Press poll. Updated rankings are expected later in the day Sunday.
