Kickoff for Texas Tech’s next road game at Arizona State has been set for 3 p.m. on FOX
LUBBOCK, Texas – Kickoff for the highly-anticipated rematch between Texas Tech and Arizona State has been set for 3 p.m. on Oct. 18 with coverage provided on FOX, the Big 12 Conference announced Monday as part of its 12-day television selections.
Â
The Red Raiders and Sun Devils were one of the top games on the Big 12 schedule to start the season after the two schools opened Big 12 play with a 30-22 victory by Texas Tech a year ago. The Sun Devils rebounded from that loss to win eight of their next nine games, including the Big 12 title over Iowa State to eventually face Texas in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals hosted at the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
Â
Both teams have not disappointed so far this season as the Red Raiders are ranked as high as No. 9 this week in the Associated Press poll following a 5-0 start that's included Big 12 wins at previously-No. 16 Utah and then Houston this past weekend. Arizona State, meanwhile, is 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in Big 12 play after defeating Baylor and TCU, moving the Sun Devils to No. 21 in both the AP and AFCA coaches polls this week.
Â
It will be only the sixth meeting all-time in the series between the two schools as Texas Tech leads 3-2 overall following last season's victory in Lubbock. The Red Raiders have won each of the last two meetings as Texas Tech closed a home-and-home non-conference agreement with the Sun Devils with a 52-45 victory early in the 2017 season. This will be Texas Tech's first visit to Tempe since falling to Arizona State in a 68-55 shootout in 2016.
Â
The Sun Devils, who are coming off an open date on the schedule, travel to Utah for a 9:15 p.m. CT kick this Saturday on ESPN. The Red Raiders will host Kansas in front of an expected sellout crowd as kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. on FOX.
