The matchup will be the only between two 10 win teams in the country this weekend
LUBBOCK, Texas – No. 11/9 Texas Tech Soccer closes a three-match homestand on Friday night when it plays host to No. 17/15 TCU Friday night at 7 p.m. at  the John Walker Soccer Complex.
In a battle between the past two regular season Big 12 champions and in the only matchup in the country between a pair of teams with 10 wins, the Red Raiders will look to remain in solo first place at the midway point of Big 12 Conference play and ahead of a three-match road trip.
Friday's match will carry the "Wear Black" theme, as fans are encouraged to wear black for the matchup and the match givewaway will be a player card giveaway.Â
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
MATCHUP: No. 11/9 Texas Tech (10-1-1, 4-0-1 Big 12) vs. No. 17/15 TCU (10-2-0, 4-1 Big 12)Â
DATE: Friday, Oct. 10, 2025
TIME: 7 p.m.
LOCATION: Lubbock, Texas (John Walker Soccer Complex)
BY THE NUMBERS:
18: Since the start of the 2022 season the Red Raiders have scored 18 times in the first 10 minutes of a match and have at least two matches with a goal in the first 10 minutes in every one of those seasons. After scoring four times in the 2022 season within the first 10 minutes, Tech did it twice in 2023 and five times in 2024. The Red Raiders have scored seven times this season in the first 10 minutes. The Red Raiders have won 11-straight when scoring in the first 10 mins and is 13-0-2 in the 15 matches.
2: While putting the ball in the back of the net is the name of the game, scoring twice has been critical for the Red Raiders success as since the start of the 2022 season, the Red Raiders are now 43-0-1 (lone tie at No. 7 BYU in 2023) when scoring two goals. When you expand that mark out to the beginning of the 2021 season, Tech is 52-2-1 when scoring twice in a match.
10: When she recorded her brace on Sunday afternoon (her third of the 2025 season and fourth career), Taylor Zdrojewski reached 10 goals in back-to-back seasons. Entering the week she's one of just three players in the country with 10 goals or more in consecutive seasons and she joined Janine Beckie and Kristy Franz as the only three Red Raiders with double-figure goals in consecutive seasons.
QUICK KICKS:
• After defeating Oklahoma State (4-0) and then-ranked No. 21 Kansas (2-0), No. 11/9 Texas Tech Soccer closes its season long three-match homestand on Friday night when No. 17/15 TCU heads to Lubbock for the only matchup between two 10-win teams in the country this weekend.
• Sitting atop the Big 12 standings and one point clear of No. 14 Baylor and the 17th-ranked Horned Frogs, the Red Raiders enter the week of action as one of five teams in the country with 20+ conference wins since the start of 2023.  That list includes UCLA (22), Arkansas (21), FSU (20) and USC (20).
• Following Sunday's win over Kansas, the Red Raiders are now 20-1-3 in Big 12 play the last three seasons and are now 25-2-8 in their last 35 conference matches. The lone loss for the Red Raiders in that span was last season's 2-1 setback to BYU.
• After scoring three times including a brace in Tech's first top-25 win of the season, forward Taylor Zdrojewski was once again named Big 12 Co-Offensive Player of the Week. The honor is Zdrojewski's third of the season which is tied for the most in the league this season with TCUs Seven Castain and teammate Macy Blackburn.
• Speaking of Blackburn, like Zdrojewski, the senior defender earned weekly honors, as she was named the league's Defensive Player of the week after scoring a goal, recording an assist and helping lead the Red Raiders to a pair of clean sheets last week. Blackburn helped anchor a Tech backline that allowed just 10 total shots in the two wins over OSU and KU.
• The honor was her third this season (leads the Big 12) and is her fifth-career honor. Blackburn's assist on Thursday night was her 42nd career helper which ties her with Brittany Timko for the fourth-most assists in Big 12 Conference history. Blackburn trails just Nikki Wojtowicz (51), Lexi Missimo (51), Meghan Anderson (50) and Jenny Benson (47).
• Not to be overshadowed by the offensive heroics from Zdrojewski and Blackburn, goalkeeper Faith Nguyen was also nails for the Red Raiders last week as she did not allow a goal for the fifth time in seven matches overall and the fourth time in five Big 12 matches.
• Entering the weekend, Nguyen leads the Big 12 in Conference only clean sheets (40), GAA (.200) and save percentage (.933). Nguyen's seven overall clean sheets are tied for second-most in the league overall.
