Big 12 Fall Tour visits Texas Tech’s campus

Fall Tour began Thursday with a presentation by Texas Tech, the Big 12 and CFP Foundation for Lubbock ISD
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Big 12 Conference Fall Tour will visit the Texas Tech campus this weekend with various events leading up to the Red Raiders hosting Kansas Saturday night for Homecoming at Jones AT&T Stadium.
"We're pleased to welcome the Big 12 Fall Tour this weekend for our Homecoming festivities," Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt said. "From the library makeover Thursday at Ramirez Elementary to the Empowerment Luncheon and tailgate later in the week, there is no shortage of activities for our students and fans to enjoy. We appreciate the partnership with the Big 12 on this tour and its impact on our campus."
The Fall Tour began Thursday with a collaboration between Texas Tech, the Big 12 and the College Football Playoff Foundation for a presentation Ramirez Elementary School in Lubbock. The three entities unveiled a $50,000 library makeover as part of the CFP Foundation's annual Extra Yards for Teachers program. This is the first time Texas Tech Athletics and a Lubbock ISD school have been selected to benefit from the CFP initiative.
Texas Tech will also host the Big 12 Homecoming Tour Empowerment Luncheon on Friday in the north end zone club area of Jones AT&T Stadium. The luncheon will feature a panel conversation between Hall of Fame head coach Marsha Sharp, Texas Tech All-American pitcher NiJaree Canady, Grace Hernandez, the Vice President for Administration and Chief of Staff for Texas Tech University as well as Annette Addo-Yobo, a current Texas Tech law student and former Miss Texas.
The Big 12 Homecoming Tour Empowerment Luncheon will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday and is sponsored by Allstate. Faculty, staff and the public are invited to attend but must request a seat in advance at this link.
The Big 12 will also bring its tailgate tour to campus, providing various activations in Raider Alley throughout the afternoon leading into kickoff. Raider Alley opens at 2 p.m. Saturday with entertainment for all ages as well as the Concert Series presented by the Davis Smith Law Firm. Grammy Award winner Switchfoot is this week's performer and will take the stage at 4:30 p.m. immediately following Raider Walk.
Kickoff between Texas Tech and Kansas is slated for 6:30 p.m. Saturday in front of a sold-out crowd inside Jones AT&T Stadium. Fans still looking for tickets are encouraged to utilize SeatGeek, the official secondary ticket provider of Texas Tech Athletics.
