November 10, 2025 | Football
DALLAS – As selected by the All-America Committee of the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), Texas Tech was named the Pop-Tarts Crazy Good Team of the Week on Monday for games played during week 11 of the college football season. The Red Raiders upended previously undefeated No. 7 BYU, 29-7, and took over first place in the Big 12, spearheaded by a dominant defensive effort.
This is the sixth time for Texas Tech (9-1, 6-1 Big 12) to receive the national team of the week honor from the FWAA. The Red Raiders earned it once last season as well, when it was coined the Cheez-It National Team of the Week, after winning 23-22 at No. 10 Iowa State on Nov. 2, 2024. Its previous honor before that came in 2012 when it topped then-No. 5 West Virginia, 49-14.
Led by linebacker Jacob Rodriguez and a smothering defensive showing that held BYU scoreless in the first half of a game for the first time since week 10 of 2023, and scoreless through the first three periods overall, building a 26-0 lead, the Red Raiders showcased why it was ranked No. 8 in the initial College Football Playoff rankings on Nov. 4.
Meanwhile, quarterback Behren Morton improved to 8-0 in games he's started this season, leading the offense to 519.1 yards total offense per game in those eight starts. Texas Tech's ninth win this season, earned versus BYU, marked its first nine-win season since 2009 and will soon seek its seventh 10-win season in school history on Saturday when hosting UCF.
Texas Tech (9-1, 6-1) hosts UCF (4-5, 1-5) on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT on FOX.
