BY THE NUMBERS:
20: Since the start of the 2022 season the Red Raiders have scored 20 times in the first 10 minutes of a match and have at least two matches with a goal in the first 10 minutes in every one of those seasons. After scoring four times in the 2022 season within the first 10 minutes, Tech did it twice in 2023 and five times in 2024. The Red Raiders have scored eight times this season in the first 10 minutes. The Red Raiders have won 13-straight when scoring in the first 10 mins and are 15-0-2 in the 17 matches.
2: While putting the ball in the back of the net is the name of the game, scoring twice has been critical for the Red Raiders success as since the start of the 2022 season, the Red Raiders are now 46-0-1 (lone tie at No. 7 BYU in 2023) when scoring two goals. When you expand that mark out to the beginning of the 2021 season, Tech is 55-2-1 when scoring twice in a match.
15: The Red Raiders are 15-0-0 since the start of the 2023 season when following either a loss or draw. After the tough 3-0 setback at Colorado the Red Raiders bounced back with an impressive 3-1 win over an upstart Kansas State team. Tech is a perfect 4-0-0 this season when following a loss or a draw. The Red Raiders have won those games by a combined margin of 10-3. The Red Raiders drew UCF on Thursday night.
QUICK KICKS:
• With the regular season in the books, the Red Raiders will embark on the Big 12 Tournament on Monday afternoon where a familiar foe in Baylor awaits in the Quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tournament.
• Facing off for the second straight year in the conference tournament and for the fourth meeting in less than 400 days (13 months), the Red Raiders will seek their sixth-straight win against Baylor and second-straight postseason win against the Bears in as many seasons. One of the surprise teams in the deep and talented Big 12 Conference this season, the match with Baylor provides another important opportunity as Texas Tech looks to bolster its postseason standing ahead of the NCAA Tournament.
• Entering the week with an RPI of 16, Tech can record its third top-20 RPI victory of the season (Kansas, 14) if it can defeat No. 15 Baylor on Monday morning. The Red Raiders other top-20 RPI win of the season was the 1-0 win in Waco over Baylor. If victorious on Monday against BU, the Red Raiders would have yet another big RPI opportunity as either No. 4 TCU or No. 33 BYU would await in the semifinals.
• The event also includes No. 7 Colorado, No. 10 WVU, No. 14 Kansas, No. 25 UCF and No. 33 BYU. As a conference the Big 12, has six top-20 RPI teams (including the Red Raiders), tied for the most top-20 RPI teams (ACC) in the nation. The Red Raiders will look to "bounce-back" on Monday after a tough scoreless draw against UCF last Thursday night.
• In that stalemate the Red Raiders outshot the Knights, 20-3 and had four golden chances to score in the final 10 minutes of the match that either missed the net, hit the post or were saved by the UCF keeper.
• The Red Raiders are a perfect 4-0-0 this season following a non-win and have won 15-straight matches after failing to win. After falling at Colorado back on Oct. 23, the Red Raiders saw their 20-match Big 12 road unbeaten streak snapped, losing a road conference match for the first time since 2021. The Red Raiders did bounce-back after the loss to UC with a 3-1 win over Kansas State the very next match.
• With the regular season in the books, multiple Red Raiders continue to chase all-time marks, as forward Taylor Zdrojewski needs just three goals to tie Kristy Franz's (18) all-time goal mark. Zdrojewski is just the fourth Red Raider to reach 15 goals in a season and sits in ninth (58) on the all-time points list and eighth on the all-time goal list (25).
• Defender Macy Blackburn also needs just one more assist to tie Ali Murphy's single-season assist record (12). Blackburn with her 11 assists this season extended her program-record assist total to 44 and became the first Red Raider to record three 10+ assist seasons in program history.
