NiJaree Canady earns Big 12 honors after two complete games with no earned runs against Baylor
LUBBOCK, Texas – Reigning National Player of the Year NiJaree Canady picked up her first Big 12 honors of the season on Tuesday as she was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week for her performance against Baylor over the weekend.
Canady was brilliant in the circle, throwing two complete games and allowing no earned runs will striking out 18 batters and walking just two including an 11-strikeout performance in game three against the Bears to clinch the programs first Big 12 sweep since 2019.
The Red Raiders are off to their best Big 12 start in program history and have won four of their five conference games via shutout.
UP NEXT: The Red Raiders will spend their spring break in South Carolina for a three-game series against the Gamecocks starting on Friday.
