Tech kicks off five game week vs UCSD

The Red Raiders will welcome the Tritons for the first all-time matchup
LUBBOCK, Texas – Fresh off competing last weekend at the Las Vegas College Baseball Classic and ahead of the final non-conference weekend of the season at GCU, Texas Tech Baseball returns home this Tuesday and Wednesday for a midweek series against UC San Diego.
Originally scheduled to play a pair of night games, Tech and UCSD will instead play a night game on Tuesday (6:30) before a 2 p.m. first pitch beckons on Wednesday afternoon.
Tuesday's contest against UCSD will be Mardi Gras Night, while Wednesday's afternoon finale will be 80's Day.

HEADLINES IN 1-2-3:
* Texas Tech returns home for its first two midweek contests of the season on Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon against a game UC San Diego squad that is coming off a 4-1 week a pair of Big 12 teams in Utah and Cincinnati. The midweek series against the Tritons will mark not only the first two midweek contests but the first night game of the season for the Red Raiders. Tuesday's first game is set for 6:30 p.m.

*Â Following the midweek series with UCSD, the Red Raiders hit the road once again for a weekend set at preseason WAC favorite, GCU. Once Tech plays at GCU on Friday night, the Red Raiders will have officially played in all four time zones in the United States this season. The Red Raiders opened the season on the east coast at UNC before returning home to the central time zone. After the weekend at home, Tech played in the Pacific Time Zone this past weekend in the Las Vegas College Baseball Classic. The State of Arizona will be on Mountain time this weekend until Sunday when the clocks fall back.

* Damian Bravo (above) and first baseman Robin Villeneuve led the Red Raiders this weekend at the Las Vegas College Baseball Classic as the duo went a combined 14-for27 with four doubles, a pair of homers and eight RBI. Bravo accounted for eight of the 15 hits and both homers, while Villeneuve accounted for three of the four two-baggers. The duo were named to the events All-Tournament Team.

The Red Raiders will become accustom to the road in 2025 as Tech will play just 26 of 53 games at home this season. Starting with the weekend set at No. 6 UNC, the Red Raiders will play 12 of their first 17 games away from the friendly confines of Rip Griffin Park at Dan Law Field and will play just 10 of their first 26 games at home. In the end, Texas Tech's 27 road games will bring the squad to seven different states: (Arizona, Kansas, North Carolina, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah and West Virginia). The Red Raiders in 2025 will play just 31 of 53 games inside the State of Texas. The Red Raiders 26 home games are the fewest in a season since 2022 when Tech also played just 26 games at Rip Griffin Park. The fewest home games the Red Raiders have played in a season was 2009 when Tech played just 22 total home games.
