He produced a season-best 14 rebounds against Idaho in a game where he added 16 points and had a career-high 10 assists. Watts will come into the 2025-26 at Texas Tech with 768 points, 385 rebounds, 203 assists and 10 double-doubles through 66 career games played. A Fresno, California native, he played at Bullard High School where he was a two-time all-conference player who averaged 18 points per game as a senior. His late father, Walter Watts, played at Utah under head coach Rick Majerus and helped the Utes to the 1991 Sweet 16. Â
Watts, listed as the No. 50 best transfer by The Athletic, is the second player to sign with Texas Tech this offseason following its run to the 2025 NCAA Tournament Elite 8. He follows Tyeree Bryan who signed with the Red Raiders on April 9 after playing the previous two seasons at Santa Clara where he averaged 10.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.1 steals and 2.06 3-pointers made per game last season. Tech matched the program record with a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the program's third Elite 8. The Red Raiders are 51-20 over the past two seasons under McCasland with back-to-back trips to the national tournament.
