AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Texas Tech men's golf team shot a final round 7-under-par 281, steering the squad to a sixth-place finish at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational on Sunday at Forest Hills Golf Club. The Red Raiders rallied together to card their best single-round score of the tournament, while it also tied for the third lowest round carded by the 15-team field on the final day.
A collective effort of countable scores from Calum Scott (3-under-par 69), Tim Wiedemeyer (2-under-par 70), Charlie DeLong (1-under-par 71) and Connor Graham (1-under-par 71) helped Texas Tech claim one of seven rounds throughout the entire Augusta Haskins Award Invitational that was scored 281 (7-under) or better. It had been done just three times entering the final round while each Texas (278), Oklahoma State (279), Furman (281) and Texas Tech (281) went low on the final day.
Scott and DeLong both earned Top 20 finishes. Scott tied for 15th place at 2-under-par (214), marking his best finish of the 2024-25 season, while it was also his second-straight Top 20 finish after securing his first Top 20 finish of the season last time out. Scott rose nine positions on the leaderboard on Sunday. After a par on the opening hole, and then a birdie followed by a bogey on the third hole, Scott shot bogey-free golf over the next 15 holes while carding three birdies during that stretch to finish 3-under 69 - his fourth round in the 60s this season.
Meanwhile, DeLong tied for 20th at 1-under-par (215) to earn his third Top 20 finish this season. DeLong was 2-over-par after the first 15 holes on Sunday but regrouped and caught fire over the final three holes by carding birdies on all three, starting on the par 3 16th hole. He birdied hole No. 17, a 557-yard par 5, to drop him to even-par for the round and then marched forward to birdie the final hole, a par 4, to finish his round under-par.
For the third straight tournament, Wiedemeyer closed the final round with an under-par round. His 2-under 70 on Sunday was his lowest round of the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational, which helped him finish tied for 30th place among the 78 golfers in action. It is his best finish since the Cabo Collegiate, March 2-4, when he finished tied for 19th. Graham, who accounted for the fourth and final countable score on Sunday also finished tied for 30th. It snaps a streak of four-straight Top 20 finishes by the true freshman.
Texas Tech bounced back on Sunday with a round similar to its opening round 5-under-par 283 on Saturday. Their second round 6-over-par 294 initially dropped the Red Raiders to seventh after finishing the first round tied for second place. The Red Raiders will have one more regular-season event, April 14-15, at the Mountaineer Invitational before their postseason run begins with the Big 12 Championships, April 22-24.
