No. 15 Tech wins at Cincinnati, 4-0, on Sunday

CINCINNATI – Recording their third consecutive sweep and fourth in the last five matches, the No. 15 Texas Tech Lady Raiders took down the Cincinnati Bearcats, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Western Athletic Club. In the match, the Lady Raiders did not drop a set and totaled six first-set singles victories.
Texas Tech (17-2, 10-1 Big 12) earned its 17th doubles point of the season after claiming two doubles matches against Cincinnati (9-11, 2-10 Big 12). First, the duo of Yekaterina Dmitrichenko and Hailey Murphy easily defeated Morgan Pyrz and Sakurako Watanabe, 6-1, at court two. Clinching the point was No. 4-ranked Mariia Hlahola and Avelina Sayfetdinova against Rozalia Gruszczynska and Gabrielle Guenther at the top court by a 6-3 score.
In singles, the Lady Raiders won quickly and in dominant fashion after taking three matches to sweep the Bearcats. First at court two, No. 124-ranked Dmitrichenko took down Gruszczynska in straight-sets, 6-1, 6-2. Then, Jermine Sherif would follow with a victory against Watanabe at court five, 6-0, 6-4. At court four, Andreea Lila would clinch the match with a 6-1, 6-1 win against Milica Popovski to move the Lady Raiders to 10-1 in conference.
When the match was finished, Sayfetdinova led Zeynep Erman, 6-4, 3-1, at court one, Hlahola was ahead of Guenther, 6-4, 4-1, at court three and Arina Oreshchenkova was leading Callie Flanagan at court six by a score of 6-3, 4-3.
Up next, Texas Tech returns to the McLeod Tennis Center for a match against Arizona State on Friday, April 11 at 5 p.m.
