
Canady named top three finalist for National Player of the Year

NiJaree Canady is one of the three finalists for USA Softball’s National Player of the Year award
LUBBOCK, Texas – Fresh off helping lead the Texas Tech softball to its first ever Super Regional appearance, NiJaree Canady was named a top three finalists for USA Softball's 2025 National Player of the Year.

Canady won this award last season and currently boasts a 0.92 ERA with 272 strikeouts and a 28-5 record in the circle while hitting .318 with 10 home runs and 33 RBI while slugging .716. Canady was also named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Year, Big 12 Tournament Most Outstanding Player, First Team All-Big 12 and NFCA All-Central Region First Team member.

The junior two-way star is accompanied by Jordy Bahl, Nebraska and Bri Ellis, Arkansas on the finalist's list.
