September 27, 2025 | Women's Soccer
The Red Raiders will seek their eighth-straight win in the overall series
AMES, Iowa – Looking to bounce-back after a disappointing 1-1 draw Thursday night against Houston, Texas Tech Soccer will face Iowa State Sunday afternoon for a 1 p.m. match.
Riding a six-match winning streak in Big 12 play after last week's 1-0 win at Baylor.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
MATCHUP: Texas Tech Soccer (7-1-1, 1-0-1 Big 12) at Iowa State (4-2-2, 1-1-0 Big 12)
DATE: Sunday, Sept. 29, 2025
TIME: 1 p.m.
LOCATION: Ames, Iowa (Cyclone Sports Complex)
BY THE NUMBERS:
40: After Thursday's 1-1 draw against Houston, the Red Raiders improved to 15-0-4 in their last 19 September matches dating back to a Sept. 25, 2022 loss against UT. The Red Raiders over that span have outscored opponents by a margin of 40-7 (+33).
2: While putting the ball in the back of the net is the name of the game, scoring twice has been critical for the Red Raiders success as since the start of the 2022 season, the Red Raiders are now 40-0-1 (lone tie at No. 7 BYU in 2023) when scoring two goals. When you expand that mark out to the beginning of the 2021 season, Tech is 49-2-1 when scoring twice in a match.
6: When it makes its first trip to Ames since winning the Big 12 title, Texas Tech Soccer will also put a six-match road Big 12 winning streak on the line on Sunday afternoon. The Red Raiders won their last five Big 12 road matches to close the 2024 season and defeated Baylor in Waco last Friday night, 1-0. The Red Raiders have allowed just one goal on the road over that stretch, outscoring opponents, 10-1.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
• After a disappointing 1-1 draw on Thursday night in the Big 12 home opener, Texas Tech Soccer will seek to bounce back on Sunday afternoon when they head to Ames to face Iowa State.
• One of the Red Raiders original Big 12 foes, Tech and ISU are meeting for the 30th-straight season, dating back to 1996. Winners of seven-straight overall against Iowa State, the Red Raiders are 16-1-1 against the Cyclones in the 18 all-time meetings (since 2007) under coach Tom Stone.
• Sunday afternoon's contest in Ames will mark the first time the Red Raiders have been to Ames since the 2023 season when the Red Raiders defeated the Cyclones 1-0 to win the programs first Big 12 regular season title in program history.
• As part of that season, the Red Raiders sealed an unbeaten 8-0-2 conference mark that season. Despite Thursday's draw, the Red Raiders sit in strong position in the Big 12 standings as only TCU sits with more points (6) than the Red Raiders (4).
• Through just two of the leagues 10 matches, the standings could not be tighter as five teams sit tied for second at four points and a 1-0-1 record. That group at 1-0-1 includes Texas Tech, Houston, Arizona State, Colorado as well as West Virginia. Sitting just one point behind the five-team group on four points is Arizona, Baylor, Iowa State and Kansas. In total just three points separates 14 of the leagues 16 teams as only TCU (2-0-0) and BYU (0-2-0) have more than four points or fewer than one point.
• While the Red Raiders continue to be aggressive in the run of the play, Tech has hit a bit of a rut when it comes to scoring from the run of play as Tech's last four goals have come off set pieces (three PKs and corner kick).
• The Red Raiders last run-of-play goal was Zdrojewski's second goal against New Mexico State. With her PK goal on Thursday, Macy Blackburn moved out of a tie for 10th all-time on the career points list at Texas Tech and into a tie with Texas Tech Hall of Famer Taylor Lytle for ninth (55) on the career points list.
• Blackburn's goal was her second of the season and seventh career. Blackburn has now scored twice in the last three seasons consecutively.
