
McHenry leads trio of individuals in Colorado

BROOMFIELD, Colo. – Freshman Brady McHenry led a trio of Red Raiders at the Second Les Fowler Individuals Invitational, hosted by Colorado, at Broadlands Golf Course, as the tournament came to a close on Tuesday. In addition to the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational, Sept. 29-30, in Fort Worth, Texas, where five Red Raiders traveled for a team event, McHenry, Luke D'Alise, and Simon Hovdal were placed into action this week to take part in the individual-only event that consisted of 38 in the field, which featured no groupings of teams.
McHenry played steady golf over 54 holes, 36 played on Monday, before Tuesday's final round. The freshman was tied for ninth entering the final round, carding a pair of even-par rounds of 72. He moved up the leaderboard and inside the top 5 by recording one of 14 under-par rounds on Tuesday on the par-72, 7,289-yard golf course, finishing tied for fourth. McHenry finished six shots behind the Les Fowler Colorado Individual Invitational medalist, Steven Deutsch of Long Beach State, who was propelled by a blistering 9-under-par 63 in the final round.
Meanwhile, D'Alise finished tied for 15th at 2-over-par (218) and Hovdal finished tied for 24th at 6-over-par (222). D'Alise had a pair of strong rounds on the opening day, as he sat tied for fourth after 36 holes at 2-under-par (70-72) and fell 11 spots down the leaderboard, recording a 4-over-par 76 on Tuesday. On the other hand, Hovdal saved his best for last as he shot a 2-under-par 70 in the third round after Monday's 3-over-par 75 and 5-over-par 77 to begin the Les Fowler Colorado Individual Invitational.
The Red Raiders have one more event remaining on their fall schedule, the Clerico, hosted at Southern Hills Country Club, Oct. 27-28.
