LUBBOCK – Texas Tech coach Grant McCasland has announced the addition of LaTrell Hoover, a 6-foot-11 freshman from San Antonio. Hoover has officially signed and is enrolled in classes – making him immediately available to join the Red Raiders for the 2025-26 season.
Hoover played at Samuel Clemens High School where he earned All-District Second Team honors and helped lead his team to the regional finals and a 23-13 record last season. He is coming off a senior season where he averaged 11.4 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.
Hoover is the eighth player to officially sign with Texas Tech this offseason after its run to the 2025 NCAA Tournament Elite Eight - following Tyeree Bryan, LeJuan Watts, Donovan Atwell, Josiah Moseley, Nolan Groves, Luke Bamgboye and Jaylen Petty. Tech also added Marial Akuentok who signed with the program on January 10 and joined the team as a redshirt freshman during the spring semester.
The Red Raiders finished last season with a 28-9 overall record, including being second in the Big 12 standings with a 15-5 conference record. Tech matched the program record with a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the program's third Elite 8. The Red Raiders are 51-20 over the past two seasons under McCasland with back-to-back trips to the national tournament.
