Pollock earns Academic All-America honors
January 27, 2026 | Football
LUBBOCK, Texas — Texas Tech junior Brice Pollock was named the 14th Academic All-American in program history and the second in as many years following a vote by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), formerly known as CoSIDA. He joins running back Tahj Brooks, who earned the honor last year, as both athletic and academic standouts under head coach Joey McGuire.
Pollock, a defensive back, was officially named by the organization to the second-team on the 2025 Academic All-America ® Football Team NCAA Division I. A 14-game starter for the 2025 Big 12 champions, Pollock excelled on the field and in the classroom, posting a 3.71 GPA as a leadership studies major.
Pollock announced Jan. 5 via social media platform X that he would return for his senior season. As he works toward completing his bachelor's degree, Pollock has already garnered high expectations entering 2026, earning a No. 34 ranking in On3 Sports' way-too-early Top 100 players list for the upcoming season.
Pollock was previously one of eight Red Raiders named to the CSC Academic All-District Team, announced Jan. 6, which serves as the first step in the Academic All-America selection process. He was joined by punter Jack Burgess, tight end Terrance Carter Jr., linebackers John Curry and Gage Elder, wide receiver Coy Eakin, defensive back Ashton Hampton and offensive lineman Howard Sampson.
Nominees for both honors must be at least sophomores academically and athletically, maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50, and either participate in 90% of their institution's games or start at least 66% of contests.
