Anderson named to Cousy Award Midseason Top 10

LUBBOCK – Texas Tech sophomore Christian Anderson has been announced as a midseason top 10 candidate for the 2026 Bob Cousy Award by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. A two-time Big 12 Player of the Week selection this season, Anderson ranks third in the nation and leads the Big 12 with 7.5 assists per game while also being in the top 5 of the Big 12 by scoring 19.6 points per game and making 3.4 3-pointers per game.
Along with Anderson, the Cousy Award Top 10 includes Labaron Philon (Alabama), Jaden Bradley (Arizona), Darius Acuff (Arkansas), Kingston Flemings (Houston), Bennett Stirtz (Iowa), Tamin Lipsey (Iowa State), Jeremy Fears (Michigan State), Braden Smith (Purdue) and Tyler Tanner (Vanderbilt).
Anderson has recorded five double-doubles this season along with having 19 games scoring in double figures, nine with 20-plus points and six double-figure assist performances. A 6-foot-3 guard from Atlanta, Georgia, he established a career-high with 34 points in the season opener against Lindenwood where he also had 11 assists for his first career double-double and had a career-best 13 assists in a win over Oklahoma State. Anderson has two double-doubles in Big 12 play after adding 19 points to his 13 assists against OSU before going for 26 points and 12 assists in a win over Utah. He is currently shooting 72-for-165 (43.6%) on 3-pointers, including going 8-of-10 on 3s in Tech's road win at Baylor. He ranks fifth in the Big 12 and 15th nationally in 3-point percentage and is 13th nationally with 3.4 makes from beyond the arc per game. A starter in all 21 games for the 16-5 Red Raiders, Anderson is second nationally by playing 38:34 minutes per game including seven games where he has not left the court.

The Fan Vote will count as one committee vote during the finalist selection process. In mid-March, the Midseason Top 10 list will be narrowed to just five, and in late March, five finalists will be presented to Cousy and the Hall of Fame's selection committees, where winners will be selected.
The Selection Committees for the Bob Cousy Award is composed of top men's college basketball personnel, including media members, head coaches, sports information directors, and Hall of Famers. The winner of the 2026 Cousy Award will be presented on a to-be-determined date, along with the four other members of the Men's Starting Five. Additional awards being presented include the Jerry West Award (Shooting Guard), Julius Erving Award (Small Forward), Karl Malone Award (Power Forward), and the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award (Center).
Previous winners of the Bob Cousy Award include Braden Smith, Purdue (2025), Tristen Newton, UConn (2024), Markquis Nowell, Kansas State (2023), Ja Morant, Murray State (2019), Jalen Brunson, Villanova (2018), Trey Burke, Michigan (2013), and Kemba Walker, Connecticut (2011).
