Price joins a Texas Tech signing class that is already ranked in the top 20 nationally
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire added another piece to the 2026 high school signing class Wednesday as long snapper Reed Price inked an athletic scholarship agreement with the Red Raiders.
Price, one of the top long snapper prospects in the country, was a second team All-State selection this past season as a senior at Highland High School in Gilbert, Arizona. Price hails from the same high school as current New York Jets punter Austin McNamara and was coached by McNamara's father, Brian McNamara, who has served at Highland's specialists coach. The younger McNamara departed Texas Tech following the 2023 season as the school's all-time career leader for punting average.
"We're fired up to have Reed join our program," McGuire said. "Reed was a player Coach (Kenny) Perry identified as one of the top long snappers in the country that will arrive in two years and add to our specialist room. We couldn't be happier to add another Red Raider out of Highland High School in Arizona."
Price, who is not expected to join the Red Raiders until the 2028 football season after serving a Mormon mission for the next two years, was selected to play in the 2026 Under Armour All-America Game that was played just a month ago in DeLand, Florida. He received a five-star ranking by Kohl's scouting service, which listed him in the top-10 nationally among long snappers evaluated by the service.
Price adds to an already-heralded high school recruiting class that ranks as high as No. 17 nationally by 247Sports. He is the 21st high school signee to commit to Texas Tech for the 2026 class and the lone one to do so for the February spring signing period, which opened Wednesday. The No. 17 national ranking is the highest since online recruiting services became available.
In addition to a top-20 high school class, Texas Tech once again signed one of the nation's premier transfer portal classes, reloading an already talented roster that is coming off the program's first Big 12 Championship and College Football Playoff appearance.
