NiJaree Canady earns award after throwing her second-straight no-hitter

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Big 12 released its weekly awards featuring Texas Tech's NiJaree Canady as the Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week.

Canady tossed her second no-hitter of the season and third as a Red Raider in game one against Houston. The reigning two-time National Pitcher of the Year and Big 12 Pitcher of the Year is now the only Red Raider to have three no-hitters in their career.

In her last 25.1 innings of work she has allowed three hits and one run (unearned) in what has been a truly impressive show of dominance by Canady.

The senior led the NCAA in wins (34) last season and already has nine on the year. She also ranks 10^th in the country in ERA (0.99), 4^th in hits allowed per 7 innings (2.72) and shutouts (4) and is top 20 in strikeouts (81). Canady needs just 45 more strikeouts to reach 1,000 for her career.

Canady and the No. 2 Red Raiders will take on No. 12/13 Arizona this weekend in what could be the biggest series of the season for Tech.
