Arizona defeats Lady Raiders in Tucson

TUCSON, Ariz. – The No. 34 Texas Tech Lady Raiders dropped their match to the No. 35 Arizona Wildcats, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Lanelle Robson Tennis Center.
Arizona (17-8, 8-3 Big 12) was able to claim the doubles point over Texas Tech (14-9, 5-6 Big 12) to start the contest with a 1-0 advantage. Arizona won the first doubles match at court two when Josie Usereau and Maria Garcia defeated Elena Daskalova and Mariia Hlahola, 6-2.
Over at the top court, No. 55-ranked Yekaterina Dmitrichenko and Hailey Murphy won in decisive fashion over Zoya Chulak and Ciara Moore, 6-1, to even things up. But, the Wildcats clinched the doubles point after Tanvi Narendran and Martyna Ostrzygalo beat Ella Brownback and Andreea Lila by a 7-6 (2) score at court three.
Arizona was able to go up 3-0 after Moore beat Polina Sleptsova at court three, 6-4, 6-4, then Chulak defeated Brownback at court six by a 6-1, 7-5 score. Clinching the match was Garcia at court five over Havana Kadi, winning it 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, to secure the Arizona victory.
When the match finished, Murphy was in a third set with No. 125 Ostrzygalo, 5-7, 6-2, 2-3, at court one. At court two, Dmitrichenko also forced a third set over Usereau, 6-7, 6-2, 0-3. Over at court four, Daskalova was ahead of Narendran, 7-5, 6-6, before her match went unfinished.
Up next, the Lady Raiders host the TCU Horned Frogs at the McLeod Tennis Center on Thursday, April 9 at 1 p.m.
