TEAM
- Saturday was the third meeting all-time between the Red Raiders and Beavers. The two programs met for the first time since 1959 last season in Lubbock. Saturday's game was the second game of a two-game contract originally agreed to in 2018.
- Texas Tech improves to 3-0 all time against Oregon State, winning last season, 45-14, and in 1959, 15-14.
- Texas Tech has scored at least 20 points in each of its last 25 regular-season games. That is the second-longest active streak in the FBS, trailing only Miami (Fla.) at 29 games.
- Saturday's victory marked Joey McGuire's first non-conference win on the road following defeats in 2022 (NC State), 2023 (Wyoming) and 2024 (Washington State).
- As a program, it was Texas Tech's first win at an opponent's home stadium since defeating Houston in 2017.
- True freshman Matt Ludwig (#5) made his first career start as the Red Raiders opened the game in a two-tight end set alongside seventh-year senior Jett Carpenter (#85). Terrance Carter was ruled inactive before the game due to injury. Ludwig later recorded his first career catch in the second quarter and grabbed his first touchdown reception in the fourth quarter.
- Texas Tech was held to six rushing yards and 42 total yards while the game remained tied, 0-0, after the first quarter. The Red Raiders finished with 154 yards rushing, led by J'Koby Williams' fourth career 100-yard game - totaling 116 in the contest.
- Williams broke loose for a 38-yard touchdown run with 8:05 remaining in the third quarter to give Texas Tech a 21-13 advantage. It was the third-longest touchdown run of his career, trailing a 41-yard rushing touchdown at Kansas State in 2025 and a 54-yard touchdown rush against Arkansas in the 2024 Liberty Bowl.
- Will Hammond was 14-of-18 in the first half for 109 yards. Hammond finished 20-of-27 for 189 yards and one touchdown. His completion percentage has been 74 percent or better over the first two games of 2026.
- Quarterback Thomas Castellanos scored the game's first touchdown on a 7-yard rush, which was also his first touchdown as a Red Raider. In the fourth quarter, Castellanos tossed his first career touchdown pass, an 8-yard catch my Matt Ludwig.
- Texas Tech went three-and-out for the first time in the game on its opening drive of the second half. The Red Raiders went 3-and-out three times in their 14 drives.
- Texas Tech surrendered 451 yards total offense to the Beavers. It was most yards allowed by the Red Raiders since allowing 559 to Arkansas in the 2024 Liberty Bowl. Arizona State posted the highest total against the Red Raiders in 2025, putting up 394 yards.
- Despite leading 14-7 at halftime, Texas Tech was outgained, 205-162, in the first half. It was the most yards allowed in the first half by the Red Raider defense since the 2024 Liberty Bowl, when Arkansas had 341 yards at the break. Texas Tech did not allow 200 total yards in the entire game last week against Abilene Christian (194).
- The defense surrendered its first explosive play of the season (20-plus yards) after not allowing a play longer than 18 yards last week against Abilene Christian. Oregon State's 75-yard touchdown pass came on the first play from scrimmage after the Red Raiders scored their first points of the game, tying the contest at 7-7 with 7:25 remaining in the second quarter. It was the longest pass allowed by Texas Tech since a 94-yarder in the Liberty Bowl to cap the 2024 season.
- Amier Boyd recorded his first interception of 2026 and the second interception for the Red Raider defense this season. It was the fifth career interception for Boyd after he recorded two as a Red Raider in 2025 and his first two career interceptions at UTEP in 2024.
- Austin Romaine was the Red Raiders' leading tackler at halftime with five stops. Ben Roberts finished as the team leader in tackles with 10 while Romaine finished with nine in the game.
- Stone Harrington (#48) opened his fifth-year campaign by going 4-for-4 on field-goal attempts in the season opener against Abilene Christian. He missed his first attempt of the season at Oregon State, although it was an attempt at a school-record 63 yards.
