Marsha Sharp Center (MSC) - Academic Tutor
Position Description
The Marsha Sharp Center is currently looking to hire qualified candidates in a variety of subject areas to serve as tutors for the Spring 2024 semester. The MSC is an on-campus tutoring center that operates Monday- Thursday, 8:00 am-9:00 pm, Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm, and Sunday, 5:00-9:00 pm. Within that time frame, tutors are given the ability to designate when they are available for work, creating their own schedule. As a student employee, the maximum a tutor can work is 20 hours/week. Flexibility, both in schedule and courses, allows for the best hours. This is a position that could carry into future semesters.
Subject Tutors work with student-athletes one-on-one as a supplement to what the student is learning in class. Subject tutoring is content-specific, helping the student understand the course's core concepts. Subject tutors must have extensive background knowledge and understanding of the course material.
General Tutors meet one-on-one with students to build and develop time management skills, reading and writing strategies, effective note-taking skills, test preparation and test-taking strategies, and general student self-advocacy skills. General tutors must have good organizational and communication skills. Future or previous educators preferred.
Qualifications:
- Maintain a minimum 3.0 semester TTU/TTUHSC grade point average and 3.0 cumulative TTU/TTUHSC grade point average.
- Maintain a minimum enrollment of 6 credit hours.
- At least a sophomore credit-wise.
- Must pass a criminal background check.

Position Description
Texas Tech Athletics' Strength and Conditioning department offers internships through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa). The intent of the internship is to provide hands-on training and experiential education to prepare the candidate to take on the next level position in strength and conditioning. Interns are expected to participate in a comprehensive and challenging educational program and hands-on experience (e.g., program design, biomechanics, basketball program development, plyometrics, speed and agility techniques, energy system development, regeneration methods, nutritional basics, leadership and facility, and athlete management).?
Strength & Conditioning Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing bachelor’s/master’s degree in exercise science or related field.
- Certified in CPR/AED/First Aid.
- Strong desire to become a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach.
- Pursuing relevant certification (e.g., CSCCa-SCCC).
