Jason Reed enters his 11th season as part of the Texas Tech football staff and third in the role of Director of Player Personnel.Â
In his role, Reed is responsible for the recruiting activities of the football program, setting up official and unofficial visits to campus while also helping the coaching staff identify prospective student-athletes. He also assists with the staff’s social media usage, maintaining the @RedRaider_FB Twitter account that is directed at recruits.Â
Reed began his career in collegiate athletics as a student assistant on Mike Leach’s staff while he was pursuing his undergraduate degree. He was a student assistant coach from 2008-09 and then was promoted to an offensive recruiting assistant shortly after his graduation from Texas Tech University.Â
Reed has worked under three head coaches during his career, beginning with Leach and then Tommy Tuberville and now Kliff Kingsbury. He remained an offensive recruiting assistant in his three seasons under Tuberville and then moved to a recruiting assistant role upon Kingsbury’s hire in 2013. He was promoted to Director of Player Personnel prior to the 2015 season.
A Waco native, Reed graduated with his degree in exercise sports science from Texas Tech in 2009.Â
