Austin Nettles enters his third season as an assistant equipment manager for the Red Raider football program.

In his role, Nettles assists with the daily equipment upkeep of more than 100 football student-athletes, issuing all protective and workout gear and helping oversee the weekly packing of the equipment truck for road games. He also oversees all the equipment needs for the Red Raider soccer program.

Nettles was a student equipment manager for the Red Raider football program as an undergraduate student. He later served as an equipment intern for the Dallas Cowboys over the course of the 2020-22 seasons and was the home clubhouse attendance and equipment manager for the Texas Rangers for the 2021-22 campaigns.

Nettles, a native of Cypress, Texas, earned his degree from Texas Tech in 2020, graduating magna cum laude in sports management. He is certified through the Athletic Equipment Managers Association (AEMA).
