Bradley Northnagel
- Title:
- Special Teams Quality Control
Bradley Northnagel enters his first season as a quality control assistant on the Texas Tech staff where he will work directly with the Red Raider special teams units.
Northnagel, a former long snapper under associate head coach and special teams coordinator Mark Tommerdahl at Cal, arrives in Lubbock after spending the previous two seasons as a graduate assistant for special teams and offense with the Golden Bears.
Cal closed the 2018 season with a 7-6 record and an appearance in the Cheez-It Bowl, which marked the Golden Bears’ first bowl trip since 2015. Cal’s season included victories over eventual Pac-12 champion Washington as well as USC, its first win over the Trojans since 2003.
Northnagel joined the Cal staff after a successful playing career as the Golden Bears’ primary deep snapper. Northnagel played in 29 games from 2014-16, earning the full-time snapper job in 2015. He did not make an errant snap throughout his career and contributed three tackles on punt coverage.
Following his senior season, Northnagel was one of only two long snappers in the country to earn an invite to the 2017 NFL Combine. He also played in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl before eventually accepting a tryout opportunity with the New York Jets.
Northnagel was a honorable mention Academic All-Pac 12 selection as a senior in 2016 and was also Cal’s nominee for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award. He graduated from Cal in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in social welfare.
