Khalid Blount

Khalid Blount is in his second season as an assistant strength and conditioning coach on the Texas Tech football staff.
This is Blount’s first full-time position at the collegiate level as he was previously a strength intern for the Pittsburgh football program during the 2022 season. The Panthers finished 9-4 that season after winning each of their final five games, including a 37-35 victory over No. 18 UCLA in the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl.
Blount joined the coaching profession after ending his playing career as a defensive lineman at North Carolina Central University. He started in 16 games of his career, collecting 38 career tackles, including 3.5 that went for a loss.
Blount, a native of Washington, Pennsylvania, earned both his undergraduate and master’s degrees from North Carolina Central. He completed his master’s degree in kinesiology from the university in 2021.
Blount is the son of four-time Super Bowl winner Mel Blount, a 1989 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee after a stellar 14-year career as a defensive back with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
