Aaron Gordon was named Associate Head Coach on Feb. 15, 2012 after five seasons as an assistant at Texas Tech. Established as one of the top coaches in the nation, Gordon is in his sixth season with the Texas Tech soccer program.
Gordon oversees all facets of the program including recruiting, scouting and team training and video match analysis.
During his six year tenure as a member of head coach Tom Stone[apos]s staff, Gordon has played a pivotal role transforming Texas Tech into a regular contender in the Big 12 Conference.
Gordon arrived at Tech after a three-year stint with FC Dallas of Major League Soccer where he served as the director of coaching for the second largest youth club program in North Texas.
Prior to his stint at FC Dallas, Gordon was the assistant coach of the Atlanta Beat of the WUSA where he worked alongside current Red Raider head coach Tom Stone. As the Beat[apos]s top assistant, Gordon[apos]s contributions were key during Atlanta[apos]s three-year run in the WUSA. Daily training, head of scouting, and video analysis were just some of the duties Gordon performed for the Beat.
Before arriving in Atlanta, Gordon was the director of coaching for Dallas Inter Soccer Club, where he oversaw a program that won many state and regional championships. In addition to his duties at Dallas Inter, Gordon was the head coach of the Women[apos]s Texas Lightning team of the W-League. With the Lightning, Gordon led his team to back-to-back United States Amateur Championships.
Gordon grew up in Dallas, graduating from Lake Highlands High School. After high school, Gordon went on to Hardin Simmons University and then transferred to University of South Carolina in Spartanburg. In 1997, Gordon received his B.S. in Kinesiology from the University of North Texas. After college, Gordon played professionally in the USL, where he led the indoor league in goals in 1996.
Gordon holds a USSF [quote]A[quote] License and a USSF Goalkeeper Diploma. Gordon currently serves as the head coach for the 93 Region 3 ODP regional team.
Gordon is married to fellow Red Raider assistant coach Ashley Gordon. The couple has two daughters, Addison (11) and Avery (7).
