Casey Montalvo

Casey Montalvo joined the Texas Tech staff as the Assistant Director of Communications in August of 2022. She is the primary media contact for volleyball and men’s and women’s tennis as well as the secondary contact for men’s basketball.
Prior to joining Tech Athletics, Montalvo served as the Communications Assistant for the University of Florida from July 2021 until June 2022. During her time with the Gators, Montalvo worked as the primary media contact for cross country as well as the defending national champions men’s tennis team.
While at Florida, Montalvo assisted with publicizing the men’s tennis team in both of its SEC regular season and SEC Tournament championships. Montalvo covered multiple All-American student-athletes in cross country and tennis, as well as an NCAA Singles Champion (Ben Shelton) and an NCAA Singles Semifinalist (Sam Riffice). Montalvo also assisted other sports with various duties including helping with statistics, posting social media content and managing media relations efforts for football, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s swim and dive, volleyball, gymnastics, women’s tennis, softball and lacrosse.
Before heading to Gainesville, Montalvo worked as a Media Relations Assistant with the Charlotte 49ers and served as the primary media contact for track and field and cross country and softball from January 2020 to May 2021. While there, Montalvo helped promote the men’s track and field and cross country teams after winning the triple crown with Conference USA Championships in cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field during the same season, as well as the men’s XC team making its first NCAA Championships appearance in 2020. The softball team also finished first in the C-USA East Division for the first time in program history during the 2021 season.
Montalvo worked multiple internships before graduating after serving as a communications intern with Tech Athletics, the College World Series, the Valero Alamo Bowl and the Big 12 Tournament for men’s and women’s basketball and baseball.
A native of Devine, Texas, Montalvo received a B.A. in Public Relations with a minor in advertising in December of 2017 from Texas Tech, before obtaining a M.A. in Mass Communications with a sports media emphasis from Tech in December of 2019.
