- Title:
- Associate Director for Academic Excellence, Academic Advising
Dasnii Curtis joined the Texas Tech athletics department in August 2023 as an assistant academic advisor, working specifically with the Red Raider football program.
Curtis arrived at Texas Tech ahead of the 2023 season after spending two years as the Director of Academic Success at Richmond where she oversaw the academic support for football as well as men’s and women’s tennis while with the Spiders. The Red Raiders concluded the spring semester with a 3.14 cumulative GPA in Curtis’ first full year on staff.
Curtis began her professional career in athletics in 2017, serving as a part-time academic advisor at Campbell University and its football program. She elevated to a full-time role shortly after where she provided academic support and subject tutoring primarily for football, while also overseeing the academic progress for the women’s basketball program until her departure for Richmond in 2022.
Prior to Campbell, Curtis was a student-athlete, herself, competing in basketball and cross country at Fayetteville State University (N.C.) where she earned her undergraduate degree in 2013. She later added a master’s degree in sports and performance psychology from the University of the Rockies in 2015.
Outside of her professional duties, Curtis has coached alongside her mother as an assistant director for the Starlings-Fayetteville Volleyball Club. She was the head coach for the under-18 program and served as an assistant coach for the under-14 and under-12 teams for two years. Curtis was born in Austin, Texas, and spent a great deal of her life between San Antonio, Texas, and Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Additionally, Curtis also coauthored in a book titled, Women Who Lead in Sports, that was published in March 2024. She has also served on a Head to Speech panel that discussed concussion protocol in collegiate athletics.
