Melissa Maines is in her second stint at Texas Tech as Director of Basketball Operations. She worked for Coach Marsha Sharp from 1996-2002 in the Ops position as well as the Regional Director for Women's Athletics position.

Maines is in her fifth season with Coach Whitaker and staff. She was promoted to her new title of Assistant Athletics Director in 2014.

Prior to returning to West Texas, Maines was the Director of Basketball Operations at Auburn University from 2004-2012.

Maines left Texas Tech in 2002 when she was hired as the Assistant to Head Coach Carolyn Peck at The University of Florida from 2002-2004.

Maines responsibilities with the Lady Raiders include managing the budget, working as the liaison with Under Armour, Fan Engagement, Team Travel, Supervise graduate assistant and managers and community service outreach.

She is the daughter of Steve and Debbie Maines. Steve is the Director of Event Operations in the Texas Tech Athletics Department.

Maines Graduated in 1998 from Texas Tech with degree in Exercise Sports Science and received a masters from Tech in Sports Administration in May 2001.
