Red Raiders Tee it Up in the Crescent City

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech University?s men?s golf team heads to New Orleans for the 1999 Deep South Intercollegiate Mon.-Tue., Oct. 25-26. The event will be held at the par-72, 7,012-yard Money Hill Country Club in Abita Springs, La., outside of New Orleans.
Texas Tech joins host Tulane, Centenary, Cincinnati, DePaul, Iowa, Jacksonville State, Marquette, Memphis, New Orleans, Oral Roberts, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern Mississippi, Texas-Arlington, Texas-Pan American, Troy State and Wichita State. Tulane will field two teams in the 17-team event.
The Red Raiders finished fourth out of 15 teams in their last outing at the Coca-Cola Classic in Las Cruces, N.M., Oct. 8-9.
Newcomer David Bolen leads the team with a 74.3 stroke per round average and has three top 20 finishes, including one top 10, in his first three collegiate tournaments. Freshmen Trey Pyka and Mark Hull are shooting 76.0 and 74.8 per round. Pyka earned co-medalist honors at The Crown Classic in Lufkin, Texas, in his first collegiate outing this season.
Texas Tech is averaging 299.8 strokes per round. No player on the team has finished lower than 50th in any tournament this season, while the Red Raiders have two top five finishes as a team in three events.
