LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech freshman golfer Mark Hull (San Antonio / Churchhill) followed a first-round 73 with a 3-under par 69 in the second round to move into a tie for eighth place and lead the Red Raiders to a fourth place position following the first two rounds of the 1999 Deep South Intercollegiate in New Orleans.
The Red Raiders turned in rounds of 290 and 289, but trail first-place Southeastern Louisiana by 21 strokes. SLU posted the top two rounds of the day with a blistering 276 to open the tournament and a 282 in the second round. Marquette is second, followed by Memphis, Tech, tournament-host Tulane and Cincinnati in the top five.
Freshman Brooks Kelly shot a 73 and 72 on the day and is in a tie for 19th, while junior Corey Henegar is in 48th position with a two-round total of 149. Texas-Arlington?s Corby King turned in the round of the tournament with a 7-under par 65 in the second round. He leads the event by three strokes.
Also scoring for the Red Raiders are David Bolen and Trey Pyka, who also are tied for 48th with a pair of 149s.
The final round of the tournament begins at 8 a.m. Tuesday morning.
