LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech football coach Spike Dykes said the Red Raiders worked for just over 90 minutes Wednesday in an effort to start putting the lid on the game plan for Saturday?s game at 10th-ranked Texas.
?We are putting the finishing touches on our plan,? Dykes said. ?We will try to be finished Thursday and then head on over to Austin Friday afternoon.
?Texas is so good and so complicated with what they do that it takes a lot of work to prepare for them,? Dykes said. ?We have worked hard this week and we had a good practice today.?
Texas Tech and Texas meet at 6 p.m. Saturday at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. The game will be televised to a national cable audience by FOX Sports Net.
The Red Raiders and the Longhorns are the only two teams in the Big 12 South Division which control their own destiny. A Tech win coupled with a win over Oklahoma Nov. 20 at Jones Stadium would land the Red Raiders in the Big 12 Championship Game in San Antonio. A Texas win over Texas Tech clinches the spot for the Longhorns.
?I?m telling you, this is a really good Texas football team. I can?t see where they are weak,? Dykes said. ?They are ranked 10th, but I?m convinced that is at least five spots too low.?
The Red Raiders will practice again Thursday at Jones Stadium and then plan a walk-through in Austin Friday afternoon.
