LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech football team put together the finishing touches today in preparation for the Big 12 Conference match-up with Texas in Austin this Saturday with a productive practice Thursday afternoon at Jones Stadium.
Texas Tech (5-4, 4-2) worked out for just under two hours in shoulder pads and helmets as it polished the game plan and working against Texas (8-1, 5-1) schemes. The team wrapped up the workout with extended work on all phases of the kicking game, which is the normal conclusion to a Thursday practice.
?A good practice today,? said head coach Spike Dykes. ?Looks like all we can do for this game. The hay is in the barn. It is a big game and a thrilling one for everyone involved. It?s great to be in a position to be playing for something. We play for something every week but now it?s for the right to represent and that is what it is all about.?
The Red Raiders will board a chartered flight Friday afternoon and then will hold a walk-through Friday at Memorial Stadium in Austin before focus turns to Saturday?s 6 p.m. kickoff, which will be televised by Fox Sports Net. All Texas Tech football games can be heard on the All Sports Radio Network on KKAM 1340-AM and by logging on to www.texastech.com. Spanish broadcasts of Texas Tech football games can be heard locally on Magic 93.7 and on the Texas Tech website.
