LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech redshirt freshman defensive end Aaron Hunt has been named to The Sporting News All-Freshman Football Team, according to a recent release by the magazine. Hunt was a third team selection.
Despite playing mainly in a reserve role and battling a nagging knee injury which limited his playing time in the last three games of the season, Hunt still managed to record 36 tackles and finish second on the team in sacks with five. He returned a fumble 53 yards for a touchdown against Arizona State.
The Denison, Texas product will be looking to move into a starting role in the 2000 season, filling the vacancy left by graduating all-conference defensive end Taurus Rucker. Hunt was one of 10 Big 12 Conference players named to the three All-Freshmen squads.
