LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech?s women?s golf team finished the fall season ranked 35th in the Sagarin College Rankings. Leading the way was the Tech freshman class, which ranked 13th nationally.
The Red Raiders closed the fall season with three top 10 finishes in five tournaments, including a first-place finish in the Jeannine McHaney Memorial at the Lubbock Country Club. Tech turned in its best three-round total of the season at the Diet Coke Intercollegiate in Las Cruces, N.M., with a 911.
Freshman Stephanie Dukes and senior Jamie Vannoy led Texas Tech during the fall with 76.4 strokes per round, while newcomer Melanie Hunt finished with 78.4 strokes. Vannoy led the Red Raiders with two top 10 finishes, including runner-up at the Jeannine McHaney Memorial. Hunt finished one spot behind Vannoy for her best finish of the season.
Tech?s No. 35 ranking in the poll is fifth behind Big 12 Conference foes Oklahoma State (10), Texas (15), Oklahoma (22) and Nebraska (29).
Texas Tech opens the spring campaign at the 2000 GTE ?Mo?morial in Houston March 6-7.
