LUBBOCK, Texas - Leading 14-6, Texas Tech fended off a late comeback by Abilene Christian to win 17-12 Tuesday at Dan Law Field. The victory improves Texas Tech to 30-13 overall while Abilene Christian drops to 29-13.
The Red Raiders went up 8-1 in the second inning after scoring eight runs highlighted by a Jason Huth two-run homer, a Kevin Jordan two-RBI double, a Josh Bard RBI double and Miles Durham triple.
Tech had two players finish with three hits a piece. Kevin Jordan went 3-4 with three RBI, two doubles and two runs scored, Josh Bard went 3-4 with three RBI, two doubles and two runs scored, Keith Ginter hit a home run and went 1-3 with two RBI and two runs scored, Ryan Ruiz went 2-3 with an RBI and three runs scored, Jason Huth went 1-1 with two RBI and three runs scored and Mark Austry went 1-3 with two RBI.
Tech starter Cade Allison (1-1) earned the victory after pitching 6.0 innings and striking out seven batters.
