Hughes and Shouse highlight All-Big 12 selections

The duo took home First Team All-Big 12 honors, while DH Caden Ferraro was tabbed Second Team All-Big 12
SURPRISE, Ariz. – Logan Hughes and Connor Shouse were each named First Team All-Big 12 selections, while Caden Ferraro took home Second Team All-Big 12 honors in a postseason vote of the league's 14 coaches.
In addition to the three honors listed above, freshman Jesse Ruisnek and senior Tracer Lopez were named honorable mention selections. Ruisnek took home honorable mention at both OF and the UTL spots, while Lopez was an infield selection.
Rusinek and classmate Linkin Garcia were also tabbed to the league's 12-man All-Freshman team.
A native of Deland, Fla., Hughes was named First Team All-Big 12 for the second consecutive season after hitting .372 this season with 17 home runs and 68 RBIs. Hughes has walked a team-high 47 times and has recorded a team-best .502 on-base percentage.
Saving his best work for Big 12 play, Hughes hit .393 during league play with nine home runs and 29 runs. His on-base percentage was an eye popping .504 as he walked 20 times and was hit by five pitches. He struck out just 17 times. On Friday night at Cincinnati, Hughes became the second Red Raider to reach 20 career Big 12 home runs, joining former MLB Catcher Josh Bard.
The Red Raiders other First Team All-Big 12 selection, Shouse, also shined for the Red Raiders in 2026 becoming a true two-way threat. Shouse hit .360 overall with 18 doubles, 10 home runs and 66 RBIs, and on the mound went 1-0 with three saves and 16 punchouts in 15.1 innings.
Shouse recorded two of his three saves in Big 12 play including in the series-clinching win over BYU and the Red Raiders Friday win over No. 25 Cincinnati.
Like Hughes, Shouse improved his numbers in league play, hitting .364 with 10 of his 20 doubles against league foes. On the hill, Shouse struck out 10 batters in his 10 innings and recorded the two saves.
The Red Raiders third All-Big 12 selection, Ferraro, also shined in his first year with the Scarlet and Black, as the Blinn College transfer was named a Second Team All-Big 12 selection at Designated Hitter.
Leading the Red Raiders in average, Ferraro hit .375 with eight home runs and 46 RBIs. He scored 43 times and walked 38 times, striking out just 36. Ferraro had 19 doubles and recorded an OBP of .480. Ferraro had nine of his 19 doubles and had three of his longballs in league play where he hit .345.
Tech's final honorable mention selection saved his best for last in 2026, as Lopez hit a career-best .366. He set new career marks in hits (78), runs (56), doubles (21) and average (.366).
In addition to the three all-league selections, the Red Raiders also saw Garcia and Rusinek earn All-Freshman honors. A native of Brock, Ruisnek hit .442 in his 31 total games, recording an on-base percentage of .514. On the mound Rusinek tossed 13 innings and struck out 16.
The Red Raiders final All-Big 12 selection, Garcia hit .339 with 20 doubles, four home runs and 58 RBIs. Garcia scored 53 runs and had 111 total bases.
The Red Raiders open the 2026 Big 12 Tournament presented by Allstate on Tuesday night against ninth-seeded BYU. First pitch from Surprise is set for 6:30 p.m. (CT)/4:30 p.m. (MST).
