Men's Tennis Falls to Kansas, 5-2

LAWRENCE, Kansas - The No. 51 Texas Tech's men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to 39th-ranked Kansas Saturday at the Robinson Courts in Lawrence, Kansas. Tech moves to 9-12 overall and 0-7 in Big 12 play.
Ryan Shupe and Carey Biorkman tallied the two points for the Red Raiders. Shupe pulled through in three sets, defeating Kenny Powell 7-5, 4-6, 6-2. Biorkman battled the Jayhawks' Bryan Maier in two long sets, winning 7-6, 6-4. Both Tylir Jimenez and Petar Danolic fell in three sets plus a tie-breaker, as Jimenez played in the No. 1 singles slot for just the fourth time this year.
The doubles team of Jimenez and Doug Lacy also came away with a win for Texas Tech, capturing an 8-6 decision over Xavier Avila and Ed Dus.
Texas Tech is on the road again tomorrow with a trip to Missouri for a 10 a.m. match against the Tigers. The match will conclude the Red Raider's regular season.
