Men's Tennis Wins at TCU Tournament

FORT WORTH, Texas - Members of the Texas Tech men's tennis team competed in the first and second round of the TCU Tournament today. This will be the final tournament of the men's 1998 fall season of play.

In opening round play, Ryan Shupe defeated Ola Bentzen of University of Texas-Arlington in straight sets 6-4, 7-5. Carey Biorkman beat Andrew Irving of the University of Irving 6-2,6-2. Both advanced to second round play.

In the second round, Shupe was victorious over David Hodge of Baylor 6-7 (8-6), 6-4, 6-4. However, Bjorkman lost to Alex Gomez of NE Louisiana 6-1, 6-1 to fall to the consolation bracket. Petar Danolic, who received a first round bye, defeated Otmanr Bennanai of Rice 6-0, 7-5 in his first match of the day.

Shupe and Danolic now advance to the round of 32. Both will play again tomorrow at 10:30 a.m.
