Red Raiders Ninth After Opening Round Of Big 12 Tournament

HUTCHINSON, Kansas - The Texas Tech University men's golf team shot an opening round 297 to place ninth at the 1999 Big 12 Conference Men's Golf Championship held at the 6637 yard, par 70 Prairie Dunes Country Club.
Kansas leads the tournament after shooting a total of 286. Colorado and Nebraska are tied for second place, two strokes behind the Jayhawks.
The individual leader is Aaron Pellogram of Baylor with a 67. He leads Ryan Vermeer of Kansas and Texas A&M's Lee Reed by one stroke.
The Red Raiders had two golfers in the Top 15. Sophomore Corey Henegar leads the team and is tied for 12th overall after firing a two-over-par 72. Senior Philip Tate is second highest Red Raider on leader board. He finished the day tied for 14th overall with a 73. Sophomore Blake Smith came in with a 75 to tie for 30th. Sophomore Matt Loving shot 77 tying him for 45th place. Senior Alex Armstrong ended the day with an 80. Hes tied for 54th.
The two-day tournament will conclude with 18 holes tomorrow, April 27 with the first tee time slated for 8:00 am.
