Texas Tech Baseball Ranked 19th in Baseball America Preseason Poll

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech baseball team will begin its season ranked No. 19 in the nation by Baseball America in a poll released January 2, 1999. Texas Tech concluded its season last year with a 44-20 record and Big 12 Tournament championship. The program also enjoyed its fourth straight NCAA Regional appearance in Miami, Fla.
In December, Texas Tech was nationally ranked 13th by Collegiate Baseball in its preseason poll.
Texas Tech was one of only three Big 12 teams ranked in the Baseball America poll. Texas A&M was 11th while Oklahoma State is 21st. Southern California was named the preseason No. 1 team by the poll. The Red Raiders will play the No. 1 Trojans in a three-game series on February 12-14.
Texas Tech will begin its season with a Saturday, January 30th Alumni Game at 3 p.m. at Dan Law Field. Practice begins on January 14 and the Red Raiders open their season at home with a four-game series against Howard from February 5-7.
