Texas Tech Ranks Third in Nation in Collegiate Baseball Attendance

LUBBOCK, Texas - In an NCAA collegiate baseball attendance study released August 1, 1998, Texas Tech ranked third in home baseball game attendance with an average of 3,831 per game. The figures, released by NCAAs John Painter, also revealed that Texas Tech led the nation in average attendance increase with an average Dan Law Field jump of 1,708. The Texas Tech ticket office releases figures based on total number of tickets sold while other institutions use figures based on different formulas.
The Big 12 Conference alone had three of the top five leaders in NCAA baseball attendance- Texas (No. 2), Texas Tech (No. 3) and Texas A&M (No. 4). Additionally, eight of the 11 baseball playing Big 12 schools were ranked in the top-50 nationally including Oklahoma (16th), Oklahoma State (23rd), Baylor (26th), Missouri (48th) and Nebraska (50th).
