Texas Tech Volleyball Earns Votes in Preseason Poll

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech volleyball team earned 52 points in the annual 1998 preseason USA Today/AVCA coaches poll released by the AVCA on Tuesday. The Red Raiders earned the 34th-most votes in the poll, voted upon by the nation's volleyball coaches. The 52 points were the most points a Texas Tech volleyball team has received over the last two years. Texas Tech will play nine teams and 14 matches against teams receiving votes including BYU, UC-Santa Barbara, Texas (two matches), Colorado (two matches), Texas A&M (two matches), Oral Roberts, Oklahoma (two matches), Kansas State (two matches) and Northern Illinois.
Practice for head coach Jeff Nelson's volleyball team also began today in Women's Gym on the Texas Tech University campus. Practice times are 8:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
