Academic Accolades Continue For Tech Golfers

LUBBOCK, Texas - Jamie Vannoy and Priscilla Hunt of the Texas Tech University women's golf team have been named to the 1999 National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Golf Team.
In April, Vannoy and Hunt were two of the four Tech golfers named to the 1999 Women's Golf Academic All-Big 12 Team.
Vannoy, a junior majoring in Advertising boasts a 3.83 grade point average. She was second on the team with a 77.5 scoring average and led the squad with five Top 20 finishes. Her top finish on the year was a tie for sixth at the Diet Coke-Roadrunner Invitational. Vannoy was one of only three Tech golfers to compete in all 11 tournaments this year.
Hunt is a sophomore majoring in Arts and Sciences and sports a 3.43 grade point average. She participated in seven tournaments on the season and posted a scoring average of 82.1. Her top finish was a tie for 23rd at the Jeannine McHaney Memorial.
"These two student-athletes have done a great job of combining a rigorous athletic schedule with their academics," said Director of Golf Jeff Mitchell, "I commend them for their efforts." "They have shown tremendous dedication to Texas Tech and the Athletic Department," Mitchell added.
