Texas Tech competes at Texas Relays

Several Texas Tech men's and women's track athletes competed at the 72nd Texas Relays hosted by the University of Texas Wednesday, March 31 through today.
Tracey Anderson was the hightest placing Texas Tech woman with a ninth place finish in the Discus with a throw of 143 feet 11 inches. Also, for the Red Raider women, Kaneshia Polk finished 10th in the women's triple jump with a jump of 39 feet 7 inches.
Boniface Ndungu posted the best performance by a Red Raider with a fourth place finish in the men's 5,000 meter run. Ndungu finished the 5,00 meters in 14:58.32. Rusty Purser was the only other member of the Texas Tech men's team to place at the meet with an 18th place finish in the shot put. Purser threw for a distance of 50 feet six and 1/4 inches.
Saturday's session of the Texas Relays was a sellout, with a standing room only crowd of more than 20,000 fans.
